Q. What are colonic polyps?
A. Colonic polyps, also known as colorectal polyps, are growths that form on the inner lining of the colon or large intestine. They appear in different sizes and numbers. The three main types of colon polyps are:
- Hyperplastic polyps: These polyps are considered harmless. They do not develop into cancer.
- Adenomatous polyps: These are the most common colonic polyps. Although most don’t develop intocancer, they have the potential to develop into colon cancer.
- Malignant polyps: These polyps containcancer cells.
